HeatShield Q&A Return to HeatShield Info
Q: How long will it take to fill my HeatShield
order?
A: Almost all orders are shipped within 24-48 hours
following your online order.
Q: Will I receive an e-mail confirmation for my order?
A: Yes, shortly after you place your order online you will be e-mailed a
confirmation.
Q: Can you ship faster than UPS ground service?
A:
Alternate shipping levels and services are not available online at this time,
but for an increased shipping charge we can ship by UPS 3rd, 2nd and Next Day
services. Call or e-mail for that rate.
Q: How long will it be until I receive my HeatShield via
UPS?
A: We prefer to ship via UPS Ground. We ship from California
so it may take from 5-7 business days to arrive to you on the East Coast
excluding weekends and holidays. Therefore, if you live in the Midwest or on
the West Coast, you will most likely receive your HeatShield in 2-4
days from the time it ships.
Q: I bought a HeatShield some years ago for another model
and my new HeatShield fits slightly different. Why does my first
HeatShield fit slightly different than my second
HeatShield?
A: Installation details vary according to
model type. We personally pattern the HeatShields directly off of the
windshields of every make and model vehicle. As the headliners and A-pillar
designs change in cars, so does the design of the HeatShield. Some
HeatShields may overlap with the headliner or curl around to overlap
with the A-pillars. This overlap will not affect the integrity of the
HeatShield. In fact, it will aid the HeatShield in staying put
in your windshield and protecting your car.
Q: Help! I have to bend the HeatShield to fit around my
rearview mirror! Will this harm my HeatShield?
A:
Bending your HeatShield to fit around your mirror is all a part of the
simple installation process associated with some model vehicles. We have to
design the HeatShields to fit around the rearview mirrors in order to
block out as much sunlight as possible.
Q: Out of what material are the HeatShields made?
A: The
HeatShield material is simple and unique. A special metallized
polyester film, laminated to a thin layer of closed-cell foam, with a clear
polyester film back. Designed especially for Canvas Works, this laminate is
sturdy and reflective, and it has excellent insulating properties.
Q: How are HeatShields made?
A: HeatShields are
custom cut using the latest in computer-aided cutting technology. Then they are
sewn around the edge with a cloth binding.
Q: How much cooler will the HeatShields keep the interior of my
car?
A: We’ve measured a temperature difference of as much as 40˚ F
(25˚ C.), but you will feel an average temperature reduction in your car of
about 25˚ F.
Q: Is there a warranty on the HeatShields?
A:
There is a two-year warranty on the HeatShield. You must provide us
with proof of purchase.
Q: What side faces out, the white side or the shiny, reflective
silver side?
A: Your intuition is correct. The shiny, reflective
silver side faces out.
Q: Do we make HeatShields for anything other than
automobiles?
A: We make a full line of HeatShields for most
airplanes, jets and helicopters. We do not make HeatShields for home
windows, etc.
